Script Supervisor Bruce Resnick - In his own words:

I have been living and working in Los Angeles as a script supervisor for over the past 12 years.  I have worked on both features and in television.  They have included the features “Edmond”, “Labor Pains” and the recently completed film “No God No Master” as well as the TV series “Watch Over Me” for the then newly created Fox channel MyNetwork and the Disney channel’s “Even Stevens”.

As well as working in the Los Angeles area I have been able to work across the country working on films in Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Montgomery AL, and Orlando FL.

Rex Sikes chats with script supervisor Bruce Resnick

Prior to moving to Los Angeles and becoming a script supervisor I was an Equity Stage Manager working in theatres across the country.  For nine years from 1985 -1994 I was one of the resident stage managers at the LORT Regional Theatre StageWest in Springfield MA.

After leaving Springfield along with my wife we moved to Minneapolis MN and while there I joined the Children’s Theatre of Minneapolis’ national tour of “Ramona Quimby” as stage manager.

During this time I also worked in Phoenix AZ at both Phoenix Little Theatre and Actor’s Theatre of Phoenix.

After having been a stage manager for 12 years since the time I graduated from St Leo College with a BA in Theatre I made the decision to change from being a stage manager into my present occupation as a script supervisor.  I had considered that this change would be a smooth one since I felt there were many similarities between the two jobs including the attention to detail that I needed as a stage manager I could use as a script supervisor.

One thing that I did have to learn was, for me the introduction of the camera, and how it can be positioned in order to get the correct eye lines between the actors.

Once learning and understanding where and why the camera is set up in particular places, I have been able to use this knowledge, to keep track of, and if needed correct, the eyelines  of actors to be certain that when the shots are put together they would match up.

Even after 12 years I am still enjoy working on each and every project whether it’s a feature TV show or a series for the internet .
